So much is the loss to the tourism in wake of storming floods in Uttarakhand that the estimates rolling out even from official desks are immensely huge. Considering the State Government of Uttarakhand pondering, we find that the PHD Chamber of Commerce of India (PHDCCI) has estimated the total loss at Rs. 12,000 Crore.
Despite of this, there are many areas, which have not been covered lessening the figures of staggering losses due to the nature’s fury. However, efforts are being made to repair the damage as the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has announced the financial package of Rs.100.00 crore.
The bio-metric support is being sought to ascertain the number of visitors. There are serious efforts that are being made to evolve a regulation and registration in order to control tourist movement.
This horrendous incident has also raised various concerns as there is a need felt to assess the need for a national consensus particularly pertaining to the religious tourism. For future prevention, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has come up with a plan to assess the State’s Tourism Carrying Capacity (TCC).
Pondering on the latest efforts we find that the involving of various Departments like Police Transport, Disaster Management, Weather Forecasting, Forest & Environment, and District Administration is being sought to prevent such oddities in future.
